Telangana road accident kills 9 : PM expresses grief, announces ex-gratia

New Delhi & Hyderabad : The Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday has expressed deep grief over the loss of nine people who were killed in a road accident in Kamareddy district of Telangana. PM Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF). PM Modi also announced a compensation of Rs. 50,000 for those injured in the accident.

The Prime Minister’s Office tweeted, “Distressed by the loss of lives due to an accident in Kamareddy district, Telangana. Condolences to the bereaved families and prayers with the injured. Rs. 2 lakh each from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of the deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000: PM Modi.”

In a major road accident on Sunday evening, nine people were killed and 20 others were injured in a head-on collision when a truck collided with a minivan in Kamareddy district in Telangana. According to reports, the road accident occurred around 5 pm in Yellareddy Mandal. The occupants of the minivan were returning from a function in Yellareddy when the accident took place at the Hassanpalli Gate in the Nizamsagar zone.

There were 26 passengers in the minivan. Police identified the injured as belonging to Pitlam Mandal Chillargi village. The injured were shifted to Yellareddy and Banswada hospitals for treatment.

The deceased have been identified as Saiulu (25), Lacchava (45), Anjavva (40), Veeramani (38), Sayavvah (40), Veeravva (70), Gangamani (45), Yellaiah (45) and Pochaiah (44).
